David Andrew Shoemake Jr.

David Andrew Shoemake, born March 11, 1943, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2026, leaving behind a large and loving family, treasured friendships, and a lifetime of memories.

David found joy in the simple things. He loved being outdoors, fishing, working with his hands, and always having a project to tackle. Whether mowing the lawn, building something for his family, restoring old furniture, feeding the birds and wildlife, or searching for treasures at a yard sale, David had a special way of finding value and beauty in things others might overlook.

Above all, David loved the people in his life. He is survived by his Ex-wife, Mary Way; brother, Robert Shoemake; sister, Sharon (Richard); children, Mike Shoemake (Brenda), and Julia Davis (Richard); ex-son-in-law, Jesse Leafty; grandchildren: Jennifer Templeton (Cole), Holly Leafty, Annie Leafty (Brian Story), and Nicholas Leafty; and great-grandchildren: Conrad, Barrett, Greta, and Calvin.

He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, including Amber and Mike Fry, Amber and Alexa Weik, Debra, Pat and Lyle whom David loved and treated like family.

David was preceded in death by his parents, David Shoemake Sr. and Lovey Shoemake; brothers: Raymond, Richard, and Gregory; sisters: Cheryl, Eula, Bonnie, Phyllis, Rosemary, Ellen, and Marion; great-grandbabies, Hudson and Axton; and lifelong friend Jerry.

David's legacy will live on through the family and friends who loved him, the things he built and restored, and the countless memories and stories that will continue to be shared for generations.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
