Della "Penny" Scislowicz

December 9, 1952 — November 25, 2025

Della "Penny" Scislowicz, age 72, passed away on November 25, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded with love by her daughters and son-in-law.

Penny was born on December 9, 1952, in Hawthorne, Nevada, to her father Richard "Dick" Staats. In 1984, she married the love of her life, Randy Scislowicz, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters-Crystal, Amber, and Brandi-who were her pride and joy.

Penny and Randy shared a deep, enduring bond. They enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, camping, and tending to their garden together. They created countless cherished memories with their daughters, extended family, and friends. Their trips to Australia to visit Penny's family held a special place in their hearts.

Penny was known for her big heart, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She never missed a good Hawkeye game beside Randy, always had an ice-cold Coke in hand, and treasured Bingo nights with friends. A talented cook, she made each grandchild feel special with their favorite homemade dish. She loved summertime gardening, going to garage sales, and spoiling her beloved Boxer, Tiger.

Penny is survived by her loving husband, Randy Scislowicz; daughters Crystal Norris (Bo), Amber Scislowicz, and Brandi Scislowicz, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Tammie Marshall (Craig) of Australia. She is also survived by her siblings Shirley Deane (Mick), Patty Burke (Lee), and Rick Staats (Cathy), all of Australia; Bobby Staats (Roberta) of Reno, Nevada; 15 grandchildren-Michael, Mercedes, Maeson, Ellie, Liberty, Lily, JoeAngel, Dellanie, London, Kamiyah, Delilah, Caitlin, Marisa and Chloe; one great-granddaughter, Brinleagh; her "baby" Tiger; and many close friends and extended family members who loved her dearly.

Penny was preceded in death by her father, Richard Staats, her father-in-law John Scislowicz, her nephew Michael Deane, and many aunts, uncles, friends and cousins who were waiting joyfully to welcome her home.

A memorial service and luncheon will be held January 3, 2026, from 1-3 PM at the Eagles Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa (1530 Ave F ). Randy and the girls invite family and friends to bring memories and stories to share. Penny was a simple woman who loved comfort-please come dressed in your favorite casual, comfy clothes, just as she would have wanted.
