Douglas Houck

Douglas Eugene Houck died unexpectedly at the age of 66 on August 12, 2023 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born in Winterset, Iowa on June 4, 1957.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Donna.

He is survived by ex-wife Karen, children Jaime (Michael), Jessica (Thom), Keith, grandchildren Tori, Nico, Eva, Hudson, and Hattie, siblings Greg, Russ, Brian, and Connie and a number of other family and friends.

He was witty, poetic, and charismatic. He loved golf, Husker and Chargers football, making beef jerky, wood carving, playing the lotto, fixing and tinkering with things, bowling, playing washers, and hanging with his people. He enjoyed coaching Keith in baseball and bowling.

He was also an entrepreneur with his Glider Slider screen door system. He served in the Navy for a short time after high school and lived in SC and San Diego, CA. He also loved the Southwest and lived in Tucson, AZ for a while as well. He is greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Celebration of life, Peterson Park in Gretna, NE on Friday, August 18, 5-7pm. Memorials may be directed to the family.
