Gerald Anthony "Jerry" Abboud, age 76, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Jerry was born on August 26, 1949. He lived a life defined by strength, resilience, loyalty, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. Known by many as the toughest man to ever walk the earth, Jerry possessed a determination and grit that carried him through every challenge life placed before him. He was a man of integrity, a devoted father and grandfather, a steadfast friend, and someone who could always be counted on when others needed him most.
Jerry never met a stranger. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether through a warm conversation, a helping hand, or a story shared over a drink. His kindness, humor, and generosity left a lasting impact on countless friends, neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones. To know Jerry was to know loyalty, strength, and friendship in its truest form. When he wasn't spending time with family and friends, Jerry could often be found in his garage, his favorite place to be. He loved working on cars, repairing anything that needed fixing, and tackling projects with the skill and determination that became his trademark. Whether helping a friend, lending a tool, or finding a way to make something work again, Jerry took pride in his ability to fix just about anything. The garage was more than a workspace, it was a gathering place where stories were shared, friendships were strengthened, and memories were made. Above all else, Jerry loved his family. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and found his greatest joy in watching them grow and succeed. His strength, guidance, and unwavering support will continue to shape their lives for generations to come.
Jerry is survived by his children, Steve Abboud, Jeremy (Karen) Abboud, William (Danielle) Abboud, and Jamie Abboud. He was a proud grandfather to Matthew Abboud, Michael Abboud, Kaitlyn Abboud, Allie Abboud, Addison Abboud, Aiden Abboud, and Amelia Abboud. He is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy Abboud, Linda McGuire, Mark Abboud, Robin Martinez, and Samuel Abboud, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Abboud, and his parents, James and Gladys Abboud.
His family will forever remember his strength, wisdom, sense of humor, and the unconditional love he gave so freely. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched. If something was broken, Jerry could fix it. If someone needed help, Jerry was there. His hands built, repaired, and cared for so much throughout his life, but his greatest work was the family and friendships he leaves behind. The world is a little less tough without Jerry in it, but heaven gained one remarkable man.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to gather immediately following the service for beverages and light refreshments.
The family also invites all who knew and loved Jerry to continue celebrating his life at Tanner's Bar & Grill, 1202 South 119th Street, Omaha, Nebraska, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A toast honoring Jerry's wonderful life will be shared at 5:00 p.m.
In true Jerry fashion, the family hopes those attending will come prepared to share stories, laughter, and memories of a man whose strength, generosity, and friendship touched so many lives.
Jerry will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
