Jason Timothy Heck was born on April 22, 1980, and passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 46.
Jason graduated from Elk Point-Jefferson Community School District in 1998. During high school, Jason was involved in wrestling and choir. He had a strong personality, strong opinions, and a taste for adventure and the finer things in life.
Jason had a lifelong interest in animals. As a teenager, he attended auctions and collected exotic chickens, ducks, geese, and other animals. As an adult, he pursued several business ventures, including pet stores and grooming services.
Throughout his life, Jason worked in several roles focused on helping others, including as a candy striper, a caregiver for older adults, and later in mental health. He returned to college as an adult, earning a bachelor's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Purdue University in 2019 and a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2023. He went on to work as a provisional mental health practitioner.
Jason also enjoyed researching family history and ancestry. On July 14, 2026, he married his husband, Dillion.
Jason is survived by his husband, Dillion; his son, Seth; his father, Timothy; his brother, Ryan, and Ryan's children, Riley, Wesley, and Molly; and his sister, Sara, and her husband, Nick, and their children, Mia and Ben.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda; his grandmothers, Louise and Fern; his grandfathers, Ed, Gene, and Dennis; his uncles, Dennis and Tom; and his aunt, Lynne.
Jason's life included many different chapters, and the people who knew him at different points will each remember their own part of his story. He leaves behind family, memories, and a life that cannot be summed up by a single description.
A celebration of life will take place Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 from 6-9 pm at Hall 31 (3602 S 31st.) in Omaha Nebraska,
May he rest in peace.
