John Carpenter

July 9, 1940 — September 30, 2025

John Peter Carpenter, 85, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025.

He was born in Plattsburgh, New York, where he grew up before proudly serving in the United States Navy. Following his service, John pursued higher education earning a master's degree in science of education. He later built a successful career in communications.

On April 25, 1964, John married the love of his life, Sandra (Neuhalfen) Carpenter. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and family memories.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, John had many passions and talents. He had a lifelong love of airplanes, obtained his pilot's license, purchased his little Cessna and took to the air. At home, he found joy in gardening, tending to his vegetables with patience and care. Known as the family's go to fixer, John could repair anything-electrical work, carpentry, or building projects-and he took pride in putting his skills to use for those he loved.

John is survived by his son Matthew and fiancé Michael; his daughter Cindy and son-in-law Andy; and his daughter Adrienne. He was a devoted grandfather to Cassidy, Sam, Abby and Hendrixx, who brought him immense joy.

He will be remembered for his strong sense of love for his family, his gifted hands and his warm, steady presence. His legacy lives on in the lives of those who loved him.

A celebration of life (open house) will be held on Saturday, October 11th from 1-3p at Beacon Hill (The Elmwood Room) in Aksarben.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saving Grace or The Nebraska Children's Home
