Lavern Elmer Damme

Lavern Elmer Damme, 80, of Omaha, died Saturday, January 21, 2017, at UNMC in Omaha. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) near Cook, Nebraska with the Rev. Ken Tubbesing officiating.
Lavern was born June 27, 1936, in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Elmer and Marie (Doeden) Damme. He was a 1953 graduate of Cook High School.
On May 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to Agnes (Peggy) O'Flaherty in Nebraska City. Three daughters were born to this union. The marriage ended in divorce.
Lavern drove a bread route in Topeka, Kansas, operated a gas station in Syracuse, nebraska and in 1964, became a driver for Wynne Transport and Riteway Oil. He loved driving a truck and made many friends over the years. He found all the best places to eat along his routes with one restaurant, in particular, in Peru, Indiana, where he would always call his Mom to check in. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and bowling. He loved Elvis, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and watching ALL sports on TV. He enjoyed staying connected with family and friends via the telephone especially his Aunt Eldora!
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ron Damme, brothers-in-law Robert Roesler and Gordon Crannell, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters: Barbara and Boyd Damme of Kearney, Tracy Biehl and Roger Biehl of Lexington, Julie Damme of Colorado Springs. Grandchildren, Benjamin and Stacey Damme of Omaha, Travis and Jessica Damme of Grandview, Missouri, Darin and Kacie Damme of Landis, North Carolina, Joshua Damme of Grand Island, Destiny Damme of Kearney, Amanda Christensen, Aleah Biehl, Isaac Biehl and Rachel Biehl all of Lexington. Step-Granddaughter, Brandy and Cody Popken of Lexington. Great grandchildren-Faith, Isaac, Moriah, Rayna, Ransom, Avery, Caleb, Keziah, Hardison, Josiah, Michaela, Finley, Caden Damme, and Giana Christensen. Step-Great Grandchildren Kamryn and Kinley. Brother, Larry and Janet Damme of Wabasha, Minnesota and sister, Donna Crannell of Diller, Nebraska. His Aunt Eldora Wellsensiek of Tecumseh, Nebraska, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many, many friends from Everywhere!
