"It is with great sadness that the family of Leola May Hermsen announces her passing on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Leola was born August 24, 1928 in the area of Fontanelle, Iowa.
She graduated from Omaha South High school in 1946 and worked over the years in several positions from real estate to office management, capped by 20 years as a volunteer for the Eastern Nebraska Area on Aging.
She was the eldest daughter of Harley Wiggins and Clara Neumann Wiggins. She had five siblings, Carol, Laverne, Bill, Dewayne, and David who have all preceded her in death.
She married her husband of 31 years, Robert (Bob) Lee Hermsen on August 24, 1949 and they were together always until his death in July 29, 1981.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary Clare and husband Bill, grandchildren, Jim Patten, Morgan Kolb, and Brandon Wood. Leola will also be fondly remembered by four great grandchildren, Kylie, Nathan, and Luke Patten and Lily Kolb.
A memorial service for Leola will be held on Saturday, June 16 at Chandler Acres Baptist Church, 7505 Chandler Acres Drive, Bellevue, NE at 10 AM. The memorial service will be followed by a meal in the fellowship hall."
