In Loving Memory of Linda Sue Atkinson

June 14, 1950 - September 24, 2026

Linda Sue Atkinson passed away on September 24, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever cherish her memory and the love she gave so freely.

Linda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a heart of gold and a generosity that knew no bounds. She was always a giver, the kind of person who opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay, a helping hand, or simply someone to be there for them. She gave of herself without hesitation, offering her time, her love, and whatever she had to those around her. Her home was a place of comfort, and her heart always had room for one more.

Linda's greatest legacy was the family she loved so dearly. She was the proud mother of Greg Zimmerline, Michaelanne Kammerer, Eric Zimmerline, and her beloved daughter, Laurie Zimmerline, who preceded her in death.

She was a loving grandmother to Brandy Gordon; Paul Gordon, who preceded her in death; Nichole Trovato and her husband, Matt Trovato; Michaelanne Zimmerline and her spouse, TJ Adair; Cody Gordon and his spouse, Courtney Helvey; Justin Kramer and his spouse, Tammice Johnson; Justice Zimmerline; Jessica Forrest and her husband, Jake Forrest; Abbigail Sobirovaa and her spouse, John Sobirovaa; Austin Zimmerline; and Nick Gordon. Each held a special place in her heart, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through the memories they share.

Linda was also a cherished great-grandmother to Rylee, Addison, Kaylee, Jasey, Brynlee, Delanie, Miles, Luna, Amira, Finnegain, Aubrey, Kinley, and Whitney. She was preceded in death by her precious great-grandchild, Eliana Sue, who will forever remain a part of the family's story and be held close in their hearts.

She is survived by her siblings and extended family, all of whom carry their own memories of Linda's love and generosity. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie; her grandson, Paul; her great-grandchild, Eliana Sue; her brother, Eugene; and her sisters, Janet and Sharon.

Linda will be remembered for her kindness, her selflessness, and her willingness to give whatever she could to help someone else. She was the person who opened her doors when someone needed a place to go and offered love when someone needed comfort. She never needed a reason to care for others; it was simply who she was. Her generosity was not measured by what she had, but by how freely she shared it.

Though her family must now navigate life without her physical presence, the lessons she taught through her actions will live on. Her compassion, her giving nature, and her ability to make people feel welcome will continue through the generations of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were blessed to call her family.

Linda leaves behind a legacy far greater than words can express. She leaves behind a family shaped by her love, memories that will be treasured forever, and countless lives made better because she was part of them. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will never be forgotten.

She opened her home to many, gave what she had to those in need, and loved with her whole heart. Her greatest legacy is not what she leaves behind, but the love she leaves within everyone who knew her.

Her funeral service will be held on November 14th, 2026 at St John's on the Creighton campus at 10 am with a luncheon to follow.
