Monica A. Roberts

After three years of battling lung cancer Monica Ann (Cave) Roberts, age 57, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of May 6, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska. Monica was surrounded by her daughters, Melissa Wickstrom and Jessica Dorner, and her sister, Kim Wagner.

Monica was born in Julesburg, Colorado on June 6, 1959 to Gary Dean Thompson and Madeline Kay Peterson-Thompson. Monica was later adopted by her maternal uncle and aunt, Harold and Mary Cave. Monica attended Crook Elementary School in Crook, Colorado until the age of six then moved to Chappell, Nebraska where she graduated from high school with honors in 1977.

Monica worked as a life guard and at the soda fountain in high school. She moved from Chappell to Sidney, Nebraska in 1977 where she worked as a telephone operator until she moved away for college in Chadron, Nebraska majoring in fine arts. With much perseverance, Monica made her way to Omaha, Nebraska in 2000 where she worked in various managerial positions. Monica raised two wonderful daughters, Melissa (Misegadis) Wickstrom and Jessica (Misegadis)Dorner.

Monica was preceded in death by several loved ones including her biological mother Madeline Kay (Peterson) Hutcheson of Griffin, GA and her father Harold Cave of Chappell, NE. Monica is survived by her daughter, Kara Sunderman of Overland Park, KS, her daughter Melissa Wickstrom and son-in-law Josh Wickstrom of Omaha, NE, daughter Jessica Dorner of Omaha, NE, her grandson, Oliver Sechser of Omaha, NE, her mother, Mary Cave of Julesburg, CO, her biological father, Gary Thompson of Big Springs, NE, her sisters, Kristin Flowers of Lakewood, CO, Arlene Brestel of Griffin, GA, and Kim Wagner of Arnold, NE , her aunt, Millicent Young of Colorado Springs, CO as well as several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on May 20, 2017 at 10:30am at the Chappell Assembly of God Church in Chappell, NE followed by a light lunch.
