Patricia Sue Dorn

Patricia Sue Dorn (December 12, 1955 – August 22, 2025), beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after an extraordinary eight-year battle with breast cancer.

Born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Gabriel and Darlene Bartek, Patty was known from an early age for her infectious laugh, boundless strength, and the way her smile could light up any room.

In 1973, while working in local packing houses, she met Randy Georgesen. They married in 1977 and later welcomed their daughter, Justina, who became the joy of her life. The family spent several years in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, where Patty attended massage school and fell in love with the Rocky Mountains before returning to Sioux City in 1981 with a lifetime of treasured memories.

Patty built a successful career at Derby Insurance Agency, where she worked with dedication and integrity before purchasing the agency herself. She poured her heart into her work, treating every client with compassion and earning admiration from colleagues and gratitude from her community.

Later, Patty married the love of her life, Kevin Dorn. Together they shared thirty wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Patty’s greatest joy was her family—her daughter, Justina, and her three beloved grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana.” She and Kevin enjoyed cooking, gardening, listening to music (especially The Beatles), and cheering on their granddaughters at sporting events. Many of their happiest days were spent outdoors—camping, boating, collecting heart-shaped rocks, and fishing with family.

Creative and full of life, Patty found joy in collecting recipes and cookbooks, painting, dancing, and hosting family gatherings. She was the life of every party and held a deep love for hummingbirds and flowers, which reflected her vibrant and nurturing spirit.

In 2017, Patty was diagnosed with breast cancer. A year later, the disease spread to her liver and bones, and doctors gave her two years to live. True to her spirit, she defied that prognosis, blessing her family with eight more years filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Patty is survived by her husband, Kevin; daughter, Justina (Daniel) Clayton; grandchildren, Olivia, Eleanora, and Louisa Clayton; sister, Jeanne Derby; brothers, Mike and Steve (Ruth) Bartek; mother-in-law, Arla Dorn; brothers-in-law, Jim (Andi) Dorn, David (Sue) Dorn, and Brian Dorn; and many beloved members of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Darlene Bartek; sister-in-law, Nancy Bartek; and father-in-law, Marvin Dorn.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish, 14330 Eagle Run Drive, Omaha, NE 68164. A luncheon will follow in the Parish Hall.

A private burial will take place at a later date.

Patty’s life was a testament to love, courage, and perseverance. Though our hearts are broken, her love and spirit will live on in her family, her friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
