Sherrilyn Jean Hort passed away April 27, 2026 in Bellevue, Nebraska at the age of 83 years. She was born May 23, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Sherrilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Edward James Hort, Jr; and parents Oscar and Lillian "Peggy" Kallvik.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Aaron Keup) Hort; step - grandchildren Adam (Grady), Zach, and Megan; sister Susan Kinney; and nieces Laurie Apperson and Stephanie Kinney; nephew John Kinney, Jr; and other family.

Sherry Hort graduated from Tech High in 1959. She married Edward J Hort in1962. Daughter Vicki Lynn was Born in December of 1965. They lived in Omaha Nebraska until the moved to Rising City, NE for farm life on Ed's family acreage in 1972. Sherry was an excellent seamstress, cook, and baker. She went to Platte College in Columbus to get her Associates degree, then started working in accounting. Later Sherry got her Bachelor's Degree at UNO while working in banking. She was a state auditor for several years and earned her CPA license. She finished her last 10 years of her career at PayPal as a Fraud Investigator. 

She was active in charity work and donated her time and accounting skills. She was able to travel for work and pleasure. Visiting a friend in Hawaii was her favorite trip. She loved the Opera, sewing and baking. She loved going to church with her daughter and brunch afterwards. She was able to spend the last weeks of her life with her daughter and son-in-law being pampered. She loved the home-cooked meals and many cable channels they had. She will be missed more than she could ever know.

VISITATION Saturday, May 23, from 9-10am at First Covenant Church (201 N 90th) with MEMORIAL SERVICE at 10am at the church. Private family interment at a later date.
