Thomas Newman, age 78, passed away on June 10, 2026.

Thomas was born in St. Louis, MO to Herman and Dorothy Newman. Thomas married Cilia on December 9th, 1966 in St. Louis.

Thomas is survived by his wife Cilia Newman, his children Christina (Eric) Schouten and T. Scott (Lucy) Newman, his grandchildren Jamie Newman, Kyle (Sarah) Newman, Sophie Newman, Jake Newman, Alaina Newman, Emily Newman, and Devin Thomas (Soleman Sayeed), and his great grandchildren Eleanor Newman and Henry Newman.

He was preceded in death by Dorothy Newman (Mother), Herman Newman (Father), and brothers Donny and Douglas.

Notable interests, activities, hobbies, and passions: Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. St Louis Cardinals Baseball Fan, and Tom Brady fan. He enjoyed Nebraska Football, golfing and betting quarters on lowest putts. And watching his grandkids activities and sports.

Memorable moments and achievements: 60 years of marriage, getting his undergraduate and graduate degrees as a married adult. He became an arbitrator for the USPS and had the highest win rate during his tenure. He negotiated the contract between union and Management for the Letter Carriers for the US. Became Postmaster of Wyoming and then of Royal Oak handling 5 million customer base. He spent over 40 years serving the USPS. In his later years, he loved chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup and would often say "Everyday I have ice cream is a good day".

Services for Thomas Newman will be held on Saturday, June 27th at St. Wenceslaus Chapel. Receiving at 9:30 A.M. and mass at 10:30 A.M. with Father Tobias officiating. Located at 15353 Pacific Street, Omaha, NE 68130.
