Eddie was born on 3/28/1953 in Odessa Texas to Perry Odell Burks & Dora Faye Hillhouse Burks and adopted by James Gordon Dorsey & Marie Walker Dorsey. He grew up as an only child with James & Marie in a small town in Texas by a lake. He loved going fishing with his dad on that lake. He graduated from Kilgore High School, in 1971. As a young adult he enlisted in the US. Army & served in the Vietnam war then 2 tours in Germany. After the Army he worked for Bendix Corp in Kentucky as a machinist until it closed down. Eddie had three beautiful daughters, which he thought about often. He got his CDL license and started driving all over the US. He eventually landed in Omaha NE at US Central Express where he met LeAnn and quickly became a part of her family. After a few years and tired of the road he took a CNC machinist job on the night crew at Midwest Screw Products. He retired early to take care of LeAnn's Mother Betty Bell who had Altzheimers and passed away in February of 2020 and Joe Merwald who was Betty's partner of more than 35 years, who passed away in April of 2022.

Eddie loved Country Western music, especially George Strait's song, "I Cross My Heart", was his favorite. He always wore a baseball cap and enjoyed golfing, fishing, riding his Big Dog motorcycle and traveling. His favorite vacation spot was Branson MO. If he wasn't out enjoying the lake or the greens you could find him walking around Cabelas or Bass Pro shop, or putting around with his boat, taking afternoon drives to find a new lake or golf course, or out helping a friend. He enjoyed playing with the grandchildren and his Australian Shepherd, named Sadie. He enjoyed watching a good football game on the weekends. Eddie was many things to alot of people some of which were son, brother, husband, partner, dad, stepdad, papa, neighbor, and friend. He was a soft spoken, caring, humble Texas man, with a big heart. Eddie was always a cup half full kind of guy and lived life to the fullest. He always made us laugh. He will remain in our hearts and will be sincerely missed. He was our protector here on earth. Now he's our protector from Heaven.
